A flurry of injuries have hit home in Chapel-hill. North Carolina’s freshman forward Theo Pinson is out indefinitely with a broken foot. During Wednesday’s night game vs Wake Forest, Pinson’s injury was caused by a case of friendly fire. Teammate Joel James accidentally stepped on the right foot of Pinson causing him to re-fracture the fifth metatarsal bone. This is an injury first suffered while Pinson was still in high school.
According to ESPN.com Pinson has appeared in every game this season averaging 3.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assist in 14 minutes per game but seemed to be coming on strong as of late. The timing for UNC could not be worst with Marcus Paige dealing with plantar fasciitis, Joel Berry II out with groin injury, Natt Britt received 15 stitches in his lip after a collision during game and 3 other reserve guards and walk-ons already missing time. Carolina now will be forced to use the “next man up” mentality because of this rapid spread of injuries.
