Former NHL star Butch Goring has joined 28 former players in a lawsuit filed against the NHL for failing to protect its players against traumatic head injuries, or concussions Monday as reported by Adam Proteau of The Hockey News.
Goring and company filed the motion against the NHL in a Minnesota U.S. District Court Monday, which is the second lawsuit filed against the NHL since 2013 citing concussion neglect.
A list of the total players named in Monday’s lawsuit are as follows:
Greg Adams; Rick Berry; Richard Brodeur; Shawn Chambers; Todd Elik; Robert “Butch” Goring; Mark Hardy; Michael Hartman; Todd Harvey; Tony Horacek; Garry Howatt; Dave Hutchinson; Jean Francois Jomphe; Edward Kennedy; Mike Lalor; Darren Langdon; Emmanuel Legace; Jamie Lundmark; Sergio Momesso; Jeff Parker; Stephen Patrick; Craig Redmond; Terry Ruskowski; Brian Savage; Jeffrey Shevalier; Turner Stevenson; German Titov; Todd Warriner; Vernon Westfall.
This appears to be following the same path as the NFL’s concussion litigation as far as former players speaking out against the practices of their respective former leagues.
Expect more players to begin to speak out against the league in months to come.
