Carolina Panthers running back Deangelo Williams has revealed that he is going to be released from the organization. The speculation started late in the season after being injury prone the last couple of seasons and teammate Jonathan Stewart having the hot hand. Fans were told of the decision today by him; not the Panthers. Williams did an exclusive interview with WBTV’s Molly Grantham giving details on the release and the organization not showing up to his mother’s funeral.
Williams’ mother, Sandra Hill, had a long battle with cancer. When she passed, Williams said that no one from the Panthers organization contacted him immediately or showed up to the funeral.
Williams has been with the organization for nine years. For no one to show up and show support him at his mother’s funeral is disturbing; especially being an organization centered around family and classiness. While he has said that he’s not bitter about it, it does leave a sour feeling.
