Former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody has been indicted on animal cruelty charges shortly after being released by the team.
Former Ravens Terrence Cody has been indicted on animal cruelty charges.
The veteran nose tackle was released from the team about an hour before the indictment was announced.
According to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun, the case involves the death of Cody’s dog.
Cody was selected in the 2nd round (57th Overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Ravens out of Alabama.
Cody’s best year with the Ravens was 2011 when he was a full-time starter registering 34 tackles on the NFL’s 2nd rated defense.
Due to performance, health & weight issues, his playing time decreased every year after. Cody only appeared in 1 game in 2014 for the Ravens.
Cody was processed and released on $10,000 bail.
It certainly seems that the Ravens caught wind of this indictment as it was handed down shortly after his release. It will be interesting to see how the league handles this situation given how the Michael Vick saga played out. This particular case involves Cody’s dog, but we will have to wait and see what details come out as far as what Cody did to his dog.
