Now that the New York Jets have made changes to their coaching staff, they will start executing meetings to plan for the offseason and I’m sure the quarterback position will be first on the chopping block.
According to NBC Sports, Geno Smith said that he’s anticipating competition whether it be from a high draft pick or another addition in what was quoted as a “very, very vital offseason” for establishing himself as an NFL starter.
Smith said he’s been watching tapes of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s past offenses, and luckily for Smith some spreads are very familiar to Smith’s college days. Smith was quoted by the New York post about the topic.
“The familiarity with it will help. I don’t know what the ins-and-outs of his offense is, but I can’t wait to get back into it and learn it and develop timing with the guys. I’ll try and learn as much as I can without actually having the playbook.”
Hopefully for Smith the new offense will work well for him so that we can see him succeed in the pros.
