The NBA may be seeing more diversity in the coaching ranks soon as Kings coach George Karl is considering the possible hiring of Nancy Lieberman to his coaching staff.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
Sacramento coach George Karl could try to add one assistant to the Kings staff for the balance of this season – perhaps Philadelphia’s Vance Walberg – but he’s already started to formulate possibilities for next season and beyond.
Among them, Karl plans to consider the assistant-coaching candidacy of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Spurs originally made history when they hired Becky Hammon, which is now paving the way for women coaches in the league. Lieberman is no stranger to coaching men. She was a coach for the Mavericks D-league affiliate. This isn’t to say that Lieberman is a shoe-in for the position with the Kings, but the fact that she’s being considered is another huge step for women coaches.
