Controlling owner of the Atlanta Hawks, Bruce Levenson, announced in September that he was putting the NBA team and operating rights up for sale. Since then, the Hawks have received several offers with the highest bid being $800 million.
Last month, Forbes valued the Hawks and the operating rights to the arena at $825 million. This is ranked 22nd out of the league’s 30 teams. The bidding is expected to go higher with individuals and groups like Steve Ballmer and Guggenheim interested in getting in the bidding war.
