Shad Khan, owner of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, is one of the few owners who doesn’t mind sending his team overseas to play in London.
While fans around the league vocalize their utter distain for losing a home game from their teams schedule, the Jaguars have relished in the opportunity to find a silver lining building revenue from the deal.
“It’s been really great for us,” Khan said. “Our goal is to extend it.”
Jacksonville is currently amidst a four year deal to play one home game a year at London’s Wembley Stadium, the famously known soccer stadium.
According to Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Journal, the four year deal ensures that the Jaguars franchise will no longer be relocated.
The Jaguars, perennial bottom dwellers of NFL revenue ranks, saw a significant bump moving them from a ranking of 32nd in the league to one being 22nd overall, and finishing 21st in league attendance despite losing the London home game.
Jacksonville will square off against the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 25, 2015 to complete the third cycle of the London deal.
