New Jersey Devil’s, and long time NHL great Jaromir Jagr is interested in being traded to a contender in the Eastern Conference as reported by Darren Dreger of TSN.
Dreger insists that one reason that though Jagr seeks a trade, he will not publicly ask for a trade due to an enormous amount of respect that he has for GM Lou Lamoriello.
On TSN Tonight Dreger added:
“He has stopped short of asking [GM] Lou Lamoriello for a trade, because he, like everyone else, is very respectful of Lou Lamoriello. Lamoriello believes that the Devils are still in the postseason fight, so Jagr does not want to bail. But they intend on revisiting the situation, probably a week down the road, to see where the Devils are at that point.”
Though the 42 year old Jagr publicly denied any notion that he would be publicly asking for a trade Monday, he did go on to tell Rich Chere:
“I feel I don’t have to ask. If it’s good for the team, I’m gone, if they feel like they’ve got a good offer, they’ll trade me. I don’t have to ask.”
Jagr currently leads the Devil’s with 29 points, and is second in team scoring with 11 goals to his name this season.
Though Jagr states that he would like to play for a contender, the Devils are currently 12 points behind the Boston Bruins for the final wild card playoff spot, being the reason Jagr will not directly ask for a trade.
It will be interesting to see what unfold in New Jersey regarding Jagr, his experience could prove beneficial to any contender looking to make a push for the Stanley Cup.
