Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players to ever bless the NBA. During his 19-years on the court he has made 17 All-Star apperences, 11 times he made All-NBA first team, 5 NBA championship and 2 scoring titles but has only won the league MVP 1 time, during the 2007-2008 season.
Kobe made an appearance on The Grantland Basketball Hour and Kobe blames the media for not having more MVP awards. When asked why he doesn’t have more Kobe said,
Because the media votes on it.

It was never a mission of mine to win a lot of MVPs. It was to win a lot of championships.
With that being said, does it bother me? Yeah, it bothers me. Of course it bothers me.
Not only does Kobe only have 1 MVP award in his 19 years, he finished second in voting only once in 2009 losing to LeBron James. There was no way Kobe would win the award in 2009 after LeBron carried the Cleveland Cavaliers, won 66 games and established himself as the best player in the NBA.
Kobe does have a point about the voting process. Why does the media vote and not other players or coaches? How do they decide which media members are allowed to vote? As a fan of the game, I feel if other players and coaches voted for player awards, such as MVP, it would give the award more credibility.
