On Thursday, Feb. 26, Longhorn Network will air an expanded Longhorn Extra: Black History Month special at 10 p.m. CT featuring original interviews, exclusive footage and new content commemorating Black History Month in Texas. The special will be highlighted by:
- A quarterback roundtable with Longhorn legends Vince Young, Donnie Little and James Brown
- Original interviews with Texas Head Coach Charlie Strong, the first black head coach of any men’s sport in UT history, and Austin resident Richard Overton, the oldest living (108 years old) veteran in the country
- A powerful feature on Texas women’s basketball player Imani McGee-Stafford
- Excerpts from the network’s programming surrounding the subject of race: LBJ Presidential Library’s Reflections on Race and Through the Eyes of Texas: Integration special voiced by Ricky Williams, as well as the Civil Rights Summit which previously aired on LHN; also preview excerpts of the Tom Johnson Lecture series with baseball legend Hank Aaron debuting on LHN in March
- Original photographs of Bloody Sunday, the Selma-to-Montgomery march, recently acquired by UT’s Briscoe Center
