Miami Herald reporter Clark Spencer reports that a formal announcement of the agreement for the Marlins to host the 2017 All-Star game, and it’s festivities is expected to take place within weeks to come.
The awarding of the 2017 game allows the city of Miami, as well as the Marlins franchise time to rally behind their team and show the nation and league their attendance warrants the awarding of the All-Star game.
Two years should also allow time for the young talent on the roster to flourish and develop in hopes that the Marlins will have more than just superstar Giancarlo Stanton gracing the roster.
Marlins Park is a relatively new stadium having opened in 2012, prior to its opening the Marlins shared Pro Player Stadium with the Miami Dolphins.
