Per Tim Bontemps of the New York Post, the NBA salary cap is expected to increase to above $90 million — skyrocketing to a $27 million jump from the 2014-15 salary cap.
Roberts announces the players union rejects the smoothing proposal. That means cap will skyrocket in 2016.

Smoothing — is a concept put in place to ease the burden on NBA front offices who will suddenly have $27 million dollars available to poach guys that otherwise would not have been a target.
LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, Dwyane Wade and Athony Davis are just a few who will take advantage of the rejected smoothing.
James is expected to secure an extra $43 million by opting out twice over the next two season.
