This is huge news, sad, but huge nonetheless.
Anderson Silva was considered by many to be the greatest fighter of all time and it seems as though he’s about to do his best A-Rod impression.
Bleacher Report was first to break the news:
According to Brazilian news site UOL (via UFC.com), Silva is planning to admit to his use of banned substances at his hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
According to the report, Silva will state that he used the performance-enhancing drugs in order to aid his recovery from the UFC 168 leg break he suffered facing current UFC middleweight champion ChrisWeidman. Additionally, his lawyers will claim that the levels of the substances found in his system were low to the point where they would not have enhanced his performance.
Everyone knew stylistically that Chris Weidman had Silva’s number but what people didn’t recognise is that Weidman had taken his should in those two fights. Silva’s confidence was shaken and when that happens even the best go to extreme measures to regain their form.
