Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton told the MLB on Wednesday about possibly having a relapse with cocaine.
CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reported the news:
Hear hamilton had relapse. Believe occurred a couple months back. Involved at least cocaine. Honorably, he confessed.

There’s no word of a failed test. Word is, Hamilton told mlb about relapse. He’d be put in program as 1st time offender.

In 2003, Hamilton was suspended for drugs as well and had been thought to be clean since his return to the MLB in 2005. Hamilton has been rehabbing from a shoulder surgery he underwent in January. He reportedly has been staying at a friend’s ranch in Houston rather than remaining at the Angels’ spring training complex in Arizona.
Hamilton is 33 and is set to earn $35 million this season, although the Angels would not have to pay him if he gets suspended. He is also guaranteed to make $32 million in both 2016 and 2017.
