Looks like someone wants Greg Hardy back in Carolina and it might be just the right person to convince the front office.
Reports have been running rapid after Greg Hardy was dismissed of all charges this morning from assaulting and threatening to kill then girlfriend, Nicole Holder. Different news outlets have been quoting different sources saying the likelihood Hardy returns to Carolina are slim to none but Bleacher Report insider Jason Cole, is stating otherwise.
Jason Cole said he has spoken to inside Carolina sources and says that head coach, Ron Rivera, wants Hardy back. Rivera is probably the best choice to have in your corner going up against owner Jerry Richardson. Richardson tends to shy away from drama and problematic players; he has been quoted as saying countless times that he runs a “classy” organization. After Rae Carruth, Richardson has kept the team under a low profile and with Hardy causing negative attention, getting in his good graces is what Hardy needs to do. Players such as Josh Norman has stated that the return of Hardy is necessary and even relayed the message that Hardy would be willing to take the “hometown” discount just to stay.
No one knows what Hardy’s future will entail. His presence on the field nor his talent can be denied, so getting a contract this upcoming season will not be the problem. The true question is, can Carolina push their pride aside and allow Hardy to redeem himself? Carolina has the ability to win this offseason. If Norman is right and Hardy will take a discount along with making a public apology (to the fans, ownership and teammates), I can’t see why Carolina wouldn’t give him a one year contract and put themselves in a position to be a threat in 2015.
