A riot broke out outside of a huge soccer game in Egypt that ended in at least 25 people killed.
According to ABC News, the violence began before a match between Egyptian Premier clubs Zamalek and ENPPI at Air Defense Stadium just outside of Cairo.
Officials are still unclear about exactly what caused the riot but allegedly it began as Zamalek fans tried to force their way into the match without tickets, which caused havoc.
Citing prosecutors said that the riot killed at least 25 people but fans say the death count was probably higher.
A statement by the Egypt Interior Ministry blames fans for overcrowding the entrances to the stadium and that fans angry about not being able to enter blocked roads, blocked players’ bus, and shot at at least one police car.
Egypt’s diehard soccer fans, known as Ultras, often clash with police inside and outside of stadiums. The deadliest riot in Egypt soccer history was in 2012, which resulted in the death of 74 people.
