Charlie Strong has filled out his coaching staff by hiring former LSU defensive line coach Brick Haley and Jeff Traylor from the East Texas high school powerhouse Gilmer. Haley will fill the defensive line vacancy left by Chris Rumph and Traylor will fill the tight end and special teams position.

Haley has produced his fair share of talent at the defensive line position while under John Chavis at LSU, but after a coordinator change and the hiring of Ed Orgeron he was demoted to an off the field position. Haley has been known as a very good recruiter and is should help Texas get into Louisiana more and improve in the city of Houston.
The hiring of Jeff Traylor is intriguing for many reasons. Traylor will be replacing long time Mack Brown assistant Bruce Chambers who is a former Texas high school coach himself from Dallas. Traylor led the Gilmer Buckeyes to five state title game appearances since taking over in 2000 and won three of those matchups. Traylor is said to be very well respected coach in East Texas and should help the Longhorns when it comes to recruiting the very fertile territory in the future.
