The NFL Combine is an opportunity for future NFL players to show off their speed, skills and football knowledge to recruits of NFL teams. It also provides a chance for the fastest runners of the 40 yd dash to receive $100k from Adidas, but the fastest, UAB WR J.J. Nelson, didn’t receive that check.
Adidas wised up this year and provided a new stipulation for receiving the prize, you have to not only wear Adidas cleats when you run, but you now have to sign with company. While Nelson wore the shoes, he didn’t sign with the company beforehand. Last year, Oregon State’s WR Brandin Cooks won, but he signed with Nike after which lead to Adidas adjusting their rules. This year MSU’s Trae Waynes, Miami’s Phillip Dorsett and West Virginia’s Kevin White, all walked away with the $100k prize.
