Baseball can be a very slow pace game but plays at the plate bring the fans to their feet every time. When the ball is coming in from the outfield with a base runner rounding third coming home, there is only a split second on most occasions for the catcher to apply a tag. Most often there base runner slide or there is a collision at the plate but what happens when the runner jumps over your head?
Jake Willsey of Tulane caught Nate Soria, the catcher for the Musketeers off guard by leaping over his head, avoiding the tag and scored before Soria could tag him out.
This was a really big play in the game. Willsey’s run tied the game in the 7th inning and Tulane was about to finish the rally with a walk off win in the 10th.
