It all makes sense now.
For approximately a decade I have been telling anyone who would listen that Cena’s “The Time is Now (U Can’t See Me)” was one of the illest intro beats of all time. The reason why the beat is so dope was because it was supposed to be for a member of the Wu-Tang Clan.
According to producer Jake One, that instrumental wasn’t even made for Cena or the WWE in fact, but was made with Ghostface Killah in mind.
In an interview with the LA Times, Jake talked about the origin of the beat, and how he found the infectious horn sample while digging for records in Seattle. That’s where he came across Pete Schofield and the Canadians “The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia.”
I am sure Ghost isn’t tripping over it, but now a remix must be done.
