Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson is April 11th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn; broadcasting prime time on NBC. Meanwhile in Washington D.C. this past Thursday Lamont Peterson hosted the media at his training session at the Bald Eagle Recreation Center. Lamont with help from his trainer Barry Hunter and brother Anthony spoke with the media about the upcoming bout.
Lamont on his strategy against Garcia:
“The plan might be to just go out there and fight him. Regardless of how I choose to fight, I feel like I can win. I do have quicker feet, but I can use them to do other things too. I can go forward. I don’t always have to be going backwards. I will stick to the game plan, but we don’t know what the game plan is right now” – Lamont Peterson
Lamont’s confidence going into the fight.
“I’m a better fighter. He’s definitely a counter-puncher and we’re looking to make sure that we don’t get countered the way some others have been.” -Lamont Peterson
Lamont has stated that he wanted to face the undefeated Garcia (29-0 with 17 KOs). Lamont trainer understands that this will not be a cake walk Lamont is going to be in for a battle.
“Danny is a solid fighter. He doesn’t do one or two things great, but he does a lot of things well. There are some things though that we’ve seen in him that we think we can exploit and we’re going to go out there with the intent to do so. Overall I think Lamont is a better fighter.” – Barry Hunter
After this fight it is expected that Lamont and Garcia will both look to move up to 147 pounds. So maybe we’ll see a rematch for a championship belt soon after.
