The music that gets chosen to be played through out the locker room should be left up to the players, and the players alone. Obviously some policing may be involved when certain parties are present, but in general the appropriate music will be chosen for the personality of the team.
There will always be someone unhappy with the choice of music, though, that’s just a fact of life. Music taste differs because its all opinion.
In this case it’s Manchester United coach manager Louis Van Gaal that isn’t a huge fan of what he’s hearing in his locker room, and he’s even gone as far as to jokingly (but seriously) ask them to stop.
The Manchester United manager has reportedly told players he believes listening to classical music instead of rap will present them with a “cool” state of mind before crunch games in the Premier League.
As reported in The Sun, an Old Trafford source is quoted as saying:
“Ashley [Young]’s in charge of the music and plays the more popular stuff as Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand did but the boss said they should have calmer music like his favourites. He was having a bit of fun.”
While the report is most definitely tongue-in-cheek and in all likelihood something out of nothing, we do know that Ashley Young is in control of the matchday playlist at Manchester United – as Marouane Fellaini told us in an exclusive interview last month.
If this manager thinks changing the music for his squad is the answer, then their team is in more trouble than they know. The Man-U manager needs to get back to watching film and let his players pick their own music like big boys.
It worked for Liverpool for a while.
