According to a report by San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers are chasing after Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb during free agency period. In addition to Cobb, the Chargers aim to get Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, and San Francisco 49ers guard Mike Iupati.
The Chargers have over $30.5 million in cap space and are one of 13 teams that have $30 million or more to spend during the offseason.
San Diego could definitely use help on defense; they finished the 2014 season with the league’s 24th-ranked defense by Football Outsiders’ DVOA, checking in 15th against the run and 25th against the pass.
The Chargers ranked 25th in rush offense DVOA and second-to-last in Adjusted Line Yards, Football Outsiders’ metric to measure the contribution of the offensive line in the running game.
