Johnson’s father told Syracuse.com of his son’s plan, while Patterson’s AAU coach confirmed his intention to transfer — with neither player having yet chosen a new school.
Patterson averaged 2.6 points in 13.9 minutes per game this season, while Johnson averaged 4.2 points in 14.6 minutes.
The NCAA recently concluded an eight-year investigation of the Syracuse basketball program for a number of alleged violations.
The NCAA handed coach Jim Boeheim a nine-game ACC suspension, snatched 108 wins from Boeheim and put the program on five years probation.
Syracuse missed this postseason with a self-imposed ban.
