Some players in the NFL know that in order to win, sacrifices must be made. While a majority of players will get cut or traded before restructuring their deals, others take a pay cut for the team.
Now defensive end J.J. Watt has decided to take a pay cut to give the Texans room to add some offense to their team.
Watt’s restructured deal will create $8 million in salary cap room for the Texans this upcoming season. His original $10 million roster bonus has been converted to a signing bonus. This simple change lowers his cap figure from $21.969 million to around $13.969 million.
Watt finished last season with 20.5 sacks, 3 touchdowns and the winner of the defensive MVP award.
