Cam Newton is a one-man positive PR machine right now for the NFL! And boy, does the League need it.
He recently hosted yet another school pride day for the surrounding area’s schools, and now the Carolina Panthers QB is apparently revealing personal information in sit down interviews in front of fans.
While speaking with Graham Bensinger, Cam not only entertained the audience but managed to really open up and talk about his car accident, his dream to open a day care, and how he feels about athletes getting paid.
Regarding his love for the Carolina Panthers, and why he wants to stay long after this season, Cam had this to say:
“I can tell you this, there’s no other place … there’s not another team that I’d rather play for than the Carolina Panthers. I say that with such sincerity due to the fact that, like I said, when I came into this league, I was a raging bull. ‘With me, we’re going to win!’ But it’s a process. When I see guys like a Greg Olsen; when I see guys like a Luke Kuechly; when I see guys like the Man of the Year, Thomas Davis; when I see guys like Ryan Kalil and we get keep getting attributes on our team. Happy to get Michael Oher, happy to get Ted Ginn back. Our trend is ascending, not descending. So the league is on notice for the Carolina Panthers, and I do want to be a part of this for years to come.”
Newton’s contract is up after this year, but both sides have been confident that a deal will get done eventually. It’s just a matter of time now, and that sounds like a man who’s sure in his decision.
And at this point, why would you leave? He’s already led the franchise to their first ever back-to-back playoff appearances. If he can take Carolina even just to the NFC Championship Game he would all but own the town.
Expect for him to pull in Luck/Wilson potential type numbers, somewhere in the $25mill a year range once its all said and done. Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers aren’t likely to break up anytime soon. Sorry to those who were waiting for the rebound.
