Freddie Roach is a busy man, he’s currently in training camp with Manny Pacquiao and immediately after the Mayweather fight he’s planning on going into a camp with Miguel Cotto.
I talked to Miguel last night and they’re gonna be in town next week. We’re gonna go over the opponents possibly for his next fight. They do have two dates for him coming up, so he told me.
I’m looking forward to working with him and I did ask him about Mayweather a little bit. I asked, “What was the most difficult thing to deal with when you fought Mayweather?” He said that maybe it was his foot speed and I relayed that to Manny. We’re all on the same team, I train both guys and they support each other very well, even though there’s a little bit of friction because they did fight each other.
We don’t live in a perfect world, nobody forgives everybody all the way, so I’m sure there’s some tension there because they have fought before and one guy won and one guy lost. Miguel is a great guy, he said, “You will win the fight because you have Freddie Roach.” He knows how I come up with gameplans, he knows that my gameplan against him is going to be really good and Manny’s gonna follow the directions and I feel we’re gonna have a great night.
I feel very motivated and after Pacquiao’s fight I probably won’t get a break, I’ll probably go right to camp with Miguel and I can’t wait to get back to work with Miguel because he is a dedicated guy. I love guys that work hard, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto are two of the best workers I’ve ever had in my life.
Roach seems to think that he has it all figured out when it comes to stopping Mayweather. On May 2nd he will have to prove it.
Hoepfully he isn’t stretching himself too thin and focuses on Manny before he moves on to Cotto.
