Mayweather made waves recently when he said what he’s most likely believed all along – he’s the REAL greatest ever, and Ali is a close second.
The boxing world reacted appropriately, with many old-school heads up in arms over the fact that someone would say something so blasphemous. Many, however, happened to agree with Floyd’s assessment, and you can count two-time World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman among them.
George Foreman says Floyd Mayweather is RIGHT … telling TMZ Sports, “Pound for pound, Floyd is better than me and Muhammad Ali ever were.”
“This is a better generation BY FAR,” Foreman tells us … “They’re smarter, they’re stronger, they’re overall just better fighters.”
“We were good and we liked the attention that we got. But boxing is on a different level. This is an amazing generation.”
That’s some extremely credible support from a man who knows a thing or two about fighting Ali. Ever hear of a little fight known as the Rumble in the Jungle?
What’s most surprising about his statement to TMZ is the fact that Foreman believes Pac will win the fight, despite Mayweather’s superior abilities.
“Mayweather is the superior talent, but the best guy doesn’t always win … Floyd’s gonna have his guard down. Manny’s gonna take the first couple of rounds and there won’t be enough rounds for him to catch up.”
That’s an interesting take from a man who deserves the utmost respect in the boxing world.
Come May 2nd, it’s time for Floyd to stand behind his words and prove he is the GOAT.
