Jordan Howard transferred from UAB this spring with expectations of making an immediate impact on Indiana’s roster this spring. Howard was well on his way to accomplishing that goal until he recently suffered an elbow injury that may sideline him for the remainder of the spring.
Indiana running back Jordan Howard has a hyperextended elbow and may miss the rest of the Hoosiers’ spring practice.
Howard transferred to Indiana this winter from UAB, where he ran for 1,587 yards last season before the school shut down the football program. He hurt his elbow in practice last week and is questionable to return before the Hoosiers wrap up spring ball on April 23.
Howard is Indiana’s leading contender to start at running back and replace Tevin Coleman, who finished second in the FBS with 2,036 rushing yards last season before declaring for the NFL draft.
While Howard may have to miss the rest of the spring, he will be back with plenty of time to get ready for camp so he can make an impact this fall.
