We’ve said it before: there are a lot of crazy passionate people out there who will either threaten the lives of public figures, or tell them to take it themselves.
Obviously its a nerve-racking experience when people are threatening violent acts against you. That’s why it’s so unfortunate the NCAA Committee on Infractions had to go through it after their decision to punish the USC football program.
Members of the NCAA Committee on Infractions were subject to “violent threats” after the release of documents related to the governing body’s investigation of USC’s football program, the Los Angeles Times has reported, citing court documents.
“As a result of filing these documents, some Committee on Infractions members received violent threats directed at them, including in their homes,” the NCAA said in a motion Friday.
This is a matter of football and shouldn’t result in life or death – that goes with out saying. The Committee definitely came down hard on USC, but fans have no excuse to take it this far, ever.
Threats against public figures will always occur, so don’t expect it to stop. All we can hope for is that somehow, someway these people are eventually tracked down and reprimanded.
