The first season for the New York Knicks under president Phil Jackson is coming to an end and it was Avery disappointing one as a whole. The Knicks currently have a 15-62 record but when asked about his years regrets or disappointment, Phil quickly mentioned Iman Shumpert.
“I had really high hopes for Iman as a player. He started out the season as one of the great guys and she’ll part of the development that we thought he could possibly have on the floor.”
After a very slow start to the season, the Knicks and Jackson opted to trade Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith to the Cleveland in exchange for two second-round picks and two trade exceptions. Jackson admits that Shumpert’s pending free agency and injury history played a part in getting rid of him.
“The whole complex of Iman always seeming to get hurt, always seeming to have another injury kind of led us to the frame of mind of ‘maybe he’s going to have to take his career into another place.”
I’m sure Shumpert is pleased with the move, in Cleveland he plays an important role as a key reserve and is in the middle of a potential long playoff run.
