Smith will make $48 million over five seasons, with a new-yearly average of $10.275 million. A first-round pick in 2011, Smith was due to earn $6.898 million in 2015 under the fifth-year option.
Smith became a full-time starter in 2013, starting every game of the season — but suffered a Lisfranc injury in the eighth game of his fourth season, against the Bengals.
