Titus Young could be looking at some state funded down time.
The former Detroit Lions wide receiver pleaded no contest to one felony count of battery with serious bodily injury in a Los Angeles County courtroom.
He had been arrested on July 9, 2014, and initially faced charges of one felony battery count with serious bodily injury and four misdemeanor counts of battery on school, park or hospital property. One of the misdemeanor counts was dropped during pre-trial hearings.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a suspected battery complaint on July 8, 2014, as Young was involved in “a physical altercation with another male adult,” according to a statement from the LASD at the time. Young was booked the next day.
At the time of the booking, Young pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Young, who is facing up to three years in state prison, will be sentenced May 5 at 11:30 a.m. ET in Department L of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The misdemeanor counts are expected to be dismissed at the time of the sentencing.
