One of the best parts about award seasons in professional sports is finding out all of the ridiculous contract incentives players reach simply by having writers vote their names on ballots. This years big award season winner is Andrew Bogut, who will receive a $1.9 million bonus for making second team All-defense for the 2014-15 season.
Bogut’s bonus, to be precise, is$1,945,946 … and it would have been the same amount had he been voted first or second team All-Defense

That amount might not seem like much, but for Andrew Bogut who only makes $12 million a year, that is a big pay increase. Bogut was a former number one overall pick and this second team all-defense is the shining achievement for what has been an up and down career for the Australian big-man. Hopefully he can put that salary to use in helping defend Dwight Howard and propel the Warriors to the NBA finals.
