Maybe coach Doc Rivers and son Austin Rivers started a trend. Ex-NBA player and coach Avery Johnson was recently hired by Alabama as their new basketball head coach and he will have a very familiar face on his bench, Avery Jr.
Johnson spent lots of time at Texas A&M last year watching his son play but now he will be coaching his son after he was granted his release by the Aggies Friday afternoon as a mutual decision to part ways.
First off, I just want to say Thx to Coach Kennedy & his staff for offering me a scholarship and giving me a great opportunity to play here.

Also, I want to thank all my teammate's for everything but I have decided to transfer to another school to continue my basketball career.

Avery Johnson Jr. is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound who averaged only 1.4 points per game as a freshman at Texas A&M last year. Those numbers are pretty bland but Johnson averaged 15 points and four rebounds as a senior in high school. Maybe his father will bring the best out of him.
