According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys declined to pick up the fifth-year option on the injured cornerback.
Claiborne hasn’t played to a level to justify an $11.08 million deal for 2016. He’s also coming off a torn patellar tendon that limited him to four games last year, and he missed six games in 2013 because of hamstring problems.
Dallas also drafted Byron Jones in the first round of the draft, which is another sign of the team’s direction at the position.
The Cowboys traded their first- and second-round picks to the St. Louis Rams to take Claiborne with the sixth overall pick in 2012.
