The Dallas Cowboys took a few rush this weekend in the NFL draft and one of he biggest risk was drafting defensive end Randy Gregory. Gregory is a top-10 talent but has had several off the field issues including a failed drug test during the NFL scouting combine which caused him the fall in the draft. With the 60th overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys drafted Gregory assuming the reward would be greater than the risk.
Gregory is saying all the right things since being drafted and has even taken it a step further, requesting the Cowboys to install a support system to help keep him out of trouble off the field. Gregory made this request known while speaking with owner and general manager Jerry Jones during his pre-draft visit. This won’t be the first time the Cowboys have done something like this. They took this approach back in 2012 with Pro-Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant which seem to work out pretty well.
I like to see people step up, man up and admit to their faults. I also have learned that talk is cheap and actions speak louder. I know the Dallas Cowboys will do everything they can to help Gregory but he has to show that he wants to make the most of the opportunity in front of him.
