Austin Rivers helped spark a 3rd quarter for the Clip-show in which they never looked back.
He finished with a playoff career high of 25, pushing his team’s lead to 2-1 against the Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals.
Not everyone was loving Rivers’ game that night, though, in particular the Rocket’s players.
James Harden said after:
“I don’t think he was the problem in the game”
But even more damning than that, Dwight Howard believes:
“You can’t allow guys like Austin Rivers to score 25 points. That’s too many for him,” Howard said.
Apparently, Houston is still sleeping on Doc’s kid.
He may not have lived up to the hype yet, but you don’t become one of the highest recruited guards coming out of high school by accident. The guy is no scrub.
Yes, his pro-game has remained largely inconsistent; but he has shown flashes of brilliance as he did last game.
There’s still a lot to learn for him, but my guess is Dwight will have to get used to “guys like Austin Rivers” scoring 25 if he doesn’t step up his D. Until then – quit being so salty, Dwight.
