It’s no secret that the University of Texas has a quarterback dilemma these days, and that their coaching staff has been looking high and low with a solution to the problem.
When former Notre Dame starting quarterback Everett Golson announced he was transferring from Notre Dame, many thought one of the obvious destinations was Austin, but it doesn’t look like Notre Dame is going to allow that to happen.
#ND didn't give a release to Everett Golson for schools it'll play in 2015 such as #Texas as well as several other BigTen tms, per source.

I’m not a big fan of schools being able to dictate where kids can transfer to. If the kid decides he needs a fresh start somewhere else, then he should be able to go wherever he likes without the school deciding to get in the way. If the kid isn’t going to start for you, then what do you have to fear in playing against him?
I get that him going to a school like Texas might give them a leg up because he knows Notre Dame’s system, but a team still has to be able to line up and stop you at the end of the day.
All I am saying is: If a coach can decide to get up and leave a school cold turkey without consequences, then player should be able to transfer without restrictions.
