Hulk Hogan is one of the most iconic wrestlers in the history of the industry, with Hulkamania having run wild for over 30 years now. Hulk Hogan is also 61 years old and incapable of taking any type of physicality due to a back that’s been operated on more times than anyone can count. Needless to say, health and age dictate that he’s likely done inside the ring.
But this being wrestling, and WWE being the money-making machine that it is, the Hulkster can dream, brother. At a recent press conference in Australia, the Hulkster said that not only does he want to wrestle at Wrestlemania 32, but he WILL wrestle at the show of shows in Dallas next year.
“Next year, WrestleMania is going to be where the Dallas Cowboys play at the AT&T stadium and next year they’re going to try to break my indoor attendance record,” Hogan said. “So, I stopped Vince McMahon in the hallway and said, ‘Let me tell you something brother, there’s no way you’re running WrestleMania next year without Hulk Hogan on the card. Whether it’s for my last hurrah and it’s my retirement match, whether it’s for my next run or whether it’s to just beat whoever’s got the WWE title and become the champion again. If you guys are in that stadium next year, I’m going to be there.’ And Vince McMahon shook my hand and said, ‘I look forward to it.’ If it happened I would want it to be the greatest match of all time, of course … If it’s the end of my career and a huge emotional send-off that would be great, or if it’s the beginning of another huge run for Hulkamania and me chasing the dream of winning the WWE title, that would be brilliant. I’m thinking very positively about getting back in the ring.”
Okay so, Hulk is a little delusional here. It sounds like Vince McMahon was more being nice than actually agreeing to give the Hulkster another match. And that whole thing about Hulk kicking off a new title run with a win at ‘Mania 32 is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen related to WWE since Daniel Bryan and Kane were in anger management therapy.
Seriously Hulkster, let it go and enjoy your life as a WWE Legend. There’s no need to tarnish your legacy by politicking for a match that will definitely be terrible.
