The Los Angeles Lakers struck gold at the 2015 NBA Draft Lottery, and everyone around the league expecting them to draft Jahlil Okafor or Karl Anthony Towns, Kupchak is still listening to offers for the number 2 pick.
“It would have to be a heck of an opportunity for us to consider doing something like that,” Kupchak cautioned after the Lakers held pre-draft workouts for six players who could be selected in the second round.
If you came across something that made your team better quicker, it would probably be a veteran, then that’s something you would consider,” Kupchak said, “but there’s something to be said for having the No. 2 pick in terms of building going forward.”
One veteran that is patiently waiting to get back to winning is future Hall of Famer and leader of the Lakers Kobe Bryant.
Bryant who’s in the last year of his contract, has always made it clear on wanting to players that compete and quite frankly “doesn’t suck”.
At this point, the Lakers should concentrate on drafting the correct player for them with the number 2 pick, and to make sure they nail their 27th pick in the 1st round as well.
Will wait and see what teams come begging for the number 2 pick that Lakers possess.
