Michael Bennett is a different type of cat, so this answer isn’t shocking.
During a radio appearance with 750 AM The Game, Bennett described his current coach, Carroll, in an odd and weird kind of way.
“I would say he’s like playing for Willy Wonka,” Bennett said via 247Sports. “He’s crazy. He wants to be young. He’s just one of those guys who’s always upbeat and just wants to have a good time because he lets you be yourself.”
It must be a Bennett thing, because Martellus once referred to Marc Trestman in the same light.
“I always say Coach Trestman reminds me of the first Willy Wonka,” Martellus Bennett told ESPN 1000 in September 2013. “Not the Johnny Depp one; the Johnny Depp one was really cool. But the first one. Before that. The 1943 version.”
The 63-year-old Carroll is one of the oldest, yet, most energizing coaches in the league. It beats playing for Greg Schiano.
