The Atlanta Hawks watched in horror as “do everything” forward DeMarre Carroll went down in agony grabbing at his knee. However, there appears to be a sliver of hope for Carroll’s injury not being as serious as we all initially thought.
WSB-TV Atlanta’s Zach Klein reports that although still doubtful for this series, some people in the Hawks organization believe Carroll’s ACL wasn’t torn.
Sense among multiple #Hawks sources is that DeMarre Carroll did not tear his ACL. Still doubtful he returns this series. MRI today

This means that theoretically, if the Atlanta Hawks could somehow topple LeBron and the Cavs, Carroll could possibly be available for a finals showdown with the winner of the Golden St./Houston series…probably Golden St.
Considering the amount of pain DeMarre Carroll looked to be in last night, Hawks fans should take this little hint of positive news with a grain of salt. The MRI will tell the real story, although if Carroll avoided a lasting injury here, it would be something for the team to rally around.
