With Billy Donovan departing the University of Florida to accept the head coaching vacancy of the Oklahoma City Thunder, there was a hole left in the U19 USA Men’s Basketball Program. Now, they have found their new head coach.
Arizona Wildcats’s Head Coach Sean Miller will be named the new U19 USA Men’s Basketball coach.
“I am honored to be named head coach of the USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team,” Miller said. “It is exciting to be coaching such a talented group of young players, as well as working alongside a great coaching staff. I look forward to the responsibility and challenges that lie ahead in our journey to win the gold medal at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.”
Miller’s coaching staff this summer will include his younger brother and Dayton Flyers’ Head Coach Archie Miller, and Providence Friars’ Head Coach Ed Cooley.
The U19 Championships begin June 27, and the United States won the Gold Medal last year under Donovan.
Miller and his coaching staff will be looking to do the same.
