Personally, I never think it’s a good idea to liken anything in athletics to anything dealing with the military. There’s a certain segment of the population who may not think it’s appropriate to compare sports to situations where people have lost, and are losing their lives.
However, Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt doesn’t feel that way. In fact, he directly compared the hectic decision-making of a professional basketball game to that of a “fighter pilot”, after nearly brain-farting the Cavs out of a critical game 3 win by calling a ghost timeout. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration. Here is his quote:

Luckily the official didn’t see Blatt call the timeout, and LeBron James went on to make a YOLO jumper and at the same time spared Blatt from even more vitriol.
As I said before, comparing sports to military combat is never a good idea, but in this case Twitter just did what Twitter does. No one was really offended by Blatt’s comments, but plenty of people were amused:
