We were told it was about the numbers in December, and UAB supporters have stepped up with numbers of their own to help bring back the terminated programs that were done away with by university president Ray Watts.
Today after meeting with Watts face to face, UAB booster and Birmingham businessman Jimmy Filler said he had a better feeling about UAB football returning despite earlier reports and opted to make a large donation to cause.
Jimmy Filler donates $7.5 million, donations over $15 million. Cost to return 3 sports for 5 yrs is $14 million. Your turn Dr Ray. #freeuab

Jimmy Filler just backed up the Brinks trucks to the UAB administration building. You can’t tell me that the support isn’t there at this point if you are anyone, anywhere.
Thank you, Mr. Filler. Thank you for stepping up to the plate and doing more than your part in trying to bring the programs back.
