The money continues to pour in as supporters continue to rally to bring back the UAB football program back.
After supporters raised over $6 million dollars and the city of Birmingham pledged $500,000 dollars to the cause, the UAB USGA passed a resolution that would raise student fees by $25 dollars a semester in order to help raise additional funds to help reinstate the football, bowling and rifle programs.

Again, this absolutely nullifies the sentiment that only a vocal few want the terminated programs back on campus. Money is pouring in from the city, community, faculty, alumni, and now the students at UAB. If the students are willing to kick in a few extra dollars to help kick start the program, I don’t see why the administration should continue to deny them.
While the USGA has passed this resolution it still requires approval by the UAB administration, so it will be interesting to see how they respond to such a move.
It is becoming more obvious with each passing day that the administration using lack of finances as reasoning for terminating the programs won’t continue to hold up. Whether or not you want to argue that the support was there previously or not, you can’t deny that the outcry across the state and across the country to bring football back to Birmingham is far from a select few.
