The San Diego Chargers and defensive tackle Corey Liuget have agreed on a multi-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.
According to Reports, it’s a five-year extension for Liuget worth more than $50 million with $30 million guaranteed.
“The contract is basically letting me know, ‘Hey, at the end of the day, we see the potential in everything (you) have,’ ” Liuget said. “But potential is dead if you don’t put it to work. I’m just ready to continue to work, get better each and every year, and hopefully make a couple of Pro Bowls and just make a bigger name for myself in this league.
“As a team, the main deal is to first win our division. Get into the playoffs. Of course, the ultimate one is (the Super Bowl). I couldn’t care less about making the Pro Bowl. I’d give 10 Pro Bowls up if I could win a Super Bowl. I’m pretty sure Dan Marino would do the same.”
Liuget, the 18th overall pick of the 2011 draft, has started every game for the Chargers over the last three seasons and has compiled 169 tackles, 18 sacks and five forced fumbles for the Chargers.
