D’Angelo Russell is really going to make Mitch Kupchak and Sam Hinkie’s jobs hard.
According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the former Ohio State point guard ‘killed’ it in front of 76ers scouts, brass and GM Sam Hinkie.
Russell got an up-close look at what could become his adopted home on Tuesday and Wednesday. Several mock drafts have the Sixers taking him with the third overall pick in the draft next Thursday.
Russell arrived on Tuesday afternoon and had dinner with general manager Sam Hinkie. Then he spent Wednesday at the Sixers’ practice facility at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. The point guard worked out for the team and had a lengthy meeting with coach Brett Brown.
“Hesaid he killed it,” the source said of the workout. “He was talking about how excited he was about Philly.”
Russell’s workout came one day after the Sixers worked out point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. Although impressed with Mudiay, the Sixers reported covet Russell, and would love to draft him if he’s still available at pick No. 3.
